Lucas #8800 Universal Single-Ply Adhesive is a water based contact adhesive for securing EPDM, TPO, PVC and other single-ply membranes to wood, metal, concrete, and other type of roofing solutions. Fast drying with aggressive tack, #8800 bonds instantly without the risk of fire associated with flammable solvent based adhesive. VOC compliant in all of North America
APPLICATION
Surface must be clean and dry, temperature must be a minimum of 40 degrees F with humidity of less that 90% for proper curing. Apply #8800 at the rate of one gallon per 100 sq. ft. to underside of the roof membrane and at the same rate of the roof deck or insulation. Porous surfaces will require more adhesive. Higher application rates will extend the adhesive's cure time. The adhesive should be applied with a 1/2 in. Nap Roller or Suitable Spray equipment. Allow the adhesive to dry completely. The color of the adhesive will change from white to clear when the adhesive is fully dried.
#8800 may also be used to bond various types of roofing insulation together in tapered systems or the roof deck. When the adhesive is dry the membrane should be matted to the roof deck or insulation in such a way as to not create wrinkles or voids. When the membrane is laid flat it should be broomed to ensure the is full contact at the adhesive films. Subsequent rolling with a weighted roller will ensure full contact. This product is a field adhesive only. Not recommended as a Lap Adhesive!
INSTALLATION:
It is applied to both membrane and substrate; allowed to dry until no longer wet to touch; then two tacky surfaces are carefully mated together; then the membrane is rolled to fuse surfaces.
- Stir until settled material or phased liquid is redistributed and the adhesive is uniform in color.
- Apply adhesive to the substrate in a uniform manner avoiding globs, puddles, and uncoated areas
- FLEECEBACK INSTALLS: When adhering fleece back it is a 2 gallon per square wet dump. The fleeceback products are then set directly into the wet adhesive.
- LIMITATIONS: Temperature needs to be 40F degrees and rising (day & night) and humidity less than 90%.
- Application methods:
- Squeegee Application - Apply with a 1/8 inch notched squeegee to attain specified coverage rate.
- Roller Application - Use a medium nap roller (1/2 inch).
- Spray Application - Follow the manufacturer's safety and use procedures.
- Tip sizes between .019 inch -.023 inch in a Graco 510 gun.
