Do you have a standing seam metal roof?

The easiest way to know what type of roof you have is simply to look at it. If there are raised metal seams running the length of your roof from eave-to-ridge and no visible screws, you have a standing seam metal roof. Standing seam metal roofs come in many different styles – and we have attachment solutions tailored to each one.

Standing Seam Metal Roofs

A standing seam metal roof (sometimes known as a concealed-fastened metal roof) is the most durable type of roofing available. The screws are hidden beneath the panels, minimizing leak potential and making them virtually weather-tight and corrosion-free. When correctly installed, a standing seam metal roof can last for more than 60 years. This exceptional durability and the panels’ visually clean lines make standing seam roofing a preferred choice for commercial buildings, residential projects and architectural treatments.

How Is a Standing Seam Metal Roof Constructed?

First, a panel is laid in place. A steel clip is hooked over the edge of the panel and fastened into the substrate or structure with one or more screws. Then the next panel’s edge is fitted over the edge of the first panel and the clips. The panel edges are joined together by a snap lock or by using a mechanical seaming tool. The interlocked panels conceal the clips and create a strong raised seam. The clips concealed within the finished standing seam hold both metal panels in place and allow them to expand and contract with temperature changes.
