What is the lifespan of a skylight net?
Netting made from synthetic fiber is stable when not subject to the environment that they will be used in. Their lifespan in storage is unlimited. On average, a synthetic net will last five to ten years in the field. The number one factor causing damage to synthetic fibers are the ultraviolet (UV) rays from sunlight. Up to 30% loss in strength in less than two years can occur in open, no shade, outdoor exposure. LIke any other safety equipment, nets must be inspected by a competent person before use. If the net looks worn, chances are it is no longer up to its intended function.
What is the warranty for a skylight net?
RACE warrants its products to be free from any defect in materials and workmanship for a period of (1) one year during normal use and installation. This warranty does not cover failures resulting from normal wear and tear, misuse, abuse, alterations, or if mixed with improper components or failure to comply with proper installation. Should a net product catch or contain any dynamic load, the product should be replaced immediately, as it is impossible to determine the degree of damage.
How small can you adjust RACE skylight nets if the skylight size is less than the net size?
We recommend using skylight nets as close as possible to the size of the skylight. If a 7x7 is used to cover a 4x4 skylight, it will function but the edges of the net will hang loose and create a possible trip hazard. For proper fit, it is recommended that a custom skylight net is used to properly fit the smaller skylight.
